The Civil Mediation Council is an unincorporated association dedicated to the promotion and better use of mediation in all aspects of the community, business, and generally.

It was established in April 2003 by many of the United Kingdom’s mediation providers, leading independent mediators, academic figures, legal professional bodies, and government departments.  It has since grown to represent a very wide sector of the mediation community and is the first, and wholly neutral, point of call for all things mediation.

Some 65% of its members are non-lawyers and it aims to work across all of England and Wales to develop mediation in the workplace, in employment, and in business generally.
